Good Shepherd Sisters in Nepal
In Nepal, the mission of the Good Shepherd Sisters initiated back in 1998 through an establishment of local NGO named Opportunity Village Nepal, as a sister organization of GSIF Nepal as of now, with focus to provide opportunities in the areas of health, education, and vocational training for the underprivileged in Kathmandu, Rupandehi and Kaski Districts of Nepal. The major focus of the programs of OVN continues to be on prevention, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children, youth and women who are particularly at risk of being trafficked, abused, who live on the streets, forced to work, sexually exploited and the victims of child trafficking.
The organization works for and with such a population including those suffering from poverty and violence and empowers them to lead their life independently and with dignity. The projects that have been accomplished and are in operation are contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.

Nepal lies in South Asia and has shared border with India to the south, east and west whereas China in its North. The country was declared as a Federal Democratic Republic as on 28th May 2008 after which the pre-existing political division of the country as 5 development regions, 14 zones and has 7 provinces and 77 districts. Nepal is a multilingual, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious country and secularism has been ensured by the latest constitution of the country.
